Quality Assurance International Offers Educational New Fact Sheet for Consumers
by Editorial

Keeping up with the changes in the organic industry can be challenging, and consumers want to feel they’re getting the most for their money. So to address this need, organic certifier Quality Assurance International (QAI) has created a new fact sheet for consumers that details the definitions of organic, according to the National Organic Program and the United States Department of Agriculture.

“When a product bears the USDA Organic and QAI seals, a consumer can be assured that the product meets the requirements set forth by the USDA National Organic Program,” said Jackie Bowen, QAI General Manager.  “A key part of our mission at QAI is education, and this new guide provides consumers with information that they can use to make informed decisions when purchasing organic products.”

The fact sheet will answer such common questions as the following:

  •     What is organic?
  •     What does organic certification require?
  •     What do USDA organic standards and regulations include?
  •     What is the National Organic Standard Board?
  •     Who regulates certified organic claims?

QAI’s certification process is USDA-accredited, based on the NOP requirements. This certification process ensures that every point of the supply chain is certified organic, beginning at the farm where the product is grown to its destination on grocery store shelves.
